Game Report by Soccer United: Game Report by Mind Smart United:
Soccer United 4 vs. Mind Smart 2. At Parkinson 9 in Kelowna on a hot July 30th, Mind Smart dominated the early play and struck first, as Gwil Walters stripped the ball from a Soccer United defender and went in on a breakaway to open the scoring. The United defender had so many options to pass the ball that he just couldn’t decide what to do. With his mind not being too smart, he froze like a deer in headlights and then just dribbled around in a circle prior to coughing it up. While Dr. D may not be able to help his mind get any smarter, Soccer United’s in house optometrist might be able to reduce future headlight glare. United tied it up when Brian Sanders received a pass in the 6 yard box for a tap in. Chiang Lee gave United a 2-1 lead before half time, after deking both himself and keeper John Dorward multiple times before putting it in the net. Mike Bertoia’s nifty move around a defender gave him an opening to crack a shot top corner to give United a comfortable lead. Mind Smart closed the gap when Clay McLeod had a free header inside the box from a cross. Steve Milne restored the 2 goal lead when he was the last touch off of a goal line scramble. Strong goal tending from Mind Smart, as well as help from his post/crossbar kept the score respectable, as numerous United players failed to covert on their opportunities.
