Brant’s creek and Browns played an interesting game on Monday. The first half was very tight with Brandt’s holding the edge and justifying that with a “ new improved and faster” Brad Grainge blast when put through on a tight angle which was always against him. It was 1-0 at half time.
Browns half time break was what they needed to get there heads together and changed formation. In the second half Browns applied heavy pressure to begin but it was a classic counter attack that got the score level. Browns manager cried “Attack, Attack, Attack Attack Attack ,and they did and went ahead through a slightly miss hit shot that looped over the keeper , ahh I suppose they all count! Browns managed 3 more while Brandts mouths were open trying to gasp in much needed air! In the last 20 minutes the game returned to what it was like in the first half. Brandts some really good chances as Browns finally tired some what too. A nailed on penalty for a push in the back on Seager was waved away as the ref was consistently uncontroversal ( is that a word?) anyway the game was played in a sporting way. Well done Browns, again!
Brown Benefits were made to work for their 5-1 victory over the ever-resilient Brandt's Creek.
The first half was played relatively evenly, with Browns holding a slight edge of the play. However, last year’s champs were unable to penetrate the Brandt’s wall of defenders. With 10 minutes to go in the half, a quick Brandt’s counterattack led to Brad Grainge finding space and then the top corner on a rocket that broke through the netting.
In the second half, Browns altered their game plan and increased their work rate, and started to dominate play and possession. An equalizer came 8 minutes into the second half, when Browns stretched the Brandt’s defenders and Kelly Sherman found a wide open Don Brown who easily slotted home his first of the season. Brown’s went up 2-1 when Chris Young collected a loose ball off a corner kick, and his left footer found the net. Brown’s continued to push the pace, and soon made it 3-1, when Kelly Sherman found space on a through ball and calmly slotted his first of the season into the corner. Tony Gonzales upped the score when he sprinted on to a through ball for a breakaway. His first shot was saved, but Gonzales stayed with the ball, and calmly slotted home the rebound. Brown’s rounded out the scoring when newcomer Rob Janke found a wide open Kelly Sherman who made no mistake curling one into the corner for his second of the game.
